Despite numerous tragedies, the number of people charged with impaired driving, whether by alcohol or drugs, continues to rise annually. This year alone, we've laid more than 1,400 impaired-related criminal driving charges.

Together with our partners and our community, we are not giving up in our fight against impaired driving.

We focus our efforts on strategic enforcement, such as year-round RIDE initiatives, public education through our many media and social media campaigns, such as Driving's Tough Enough, and ongoing community programs, such as the Safe Roads...Your Call, which encourages residents to call 9-1-1 if they spot an impaired driver.

Why do people drive while impaired? Ask them. Every week, York Regional Police issues a media release that lists the names of people charged with impaired-related criminal driving offences.
